BHSCT probes leading neurologist’s treatment of patients
The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust has confirmed that it has carried out a review into the practice of one of its leading Consultant Neurologists, Dr.Michael Watt. Following concerns raised about the treatment of some 2500 patients, the Trust has taken the decision to recall all current patients. Nine Neurology Consultants will run 200 additional clinics commencing this Saturday to implement this review.
Dr. Watt has been employed as a Neurologist by the Trust for over two decades; whilst also conducting clinics at both the Ulster Independent Clinic and Hillsborough Private Clinic throughout this time, treating and diagnosing conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke and Motor Neurone Disease.
The Trust has indicated that its review may be expanded to include the treatment of those patients who have died whilst in the care of Dr. Watt.
