Divorce in the digital age
These days everyone has a smart phone, a tablet or an iPad. Online access is only the touch of a button away. Those who are not savvy with social media will no doubt have access to emails and text messaging. No matter whether it is social media or email there is always a digital foot print. A digital footprint is the information that exists on the Internet about a particular person as a result of their online activity. Everyone, therefore, needs to be extremely careful that their digital footprint does not damage their reputation or any future employment.
In most divorce cases there is almost always some reference to some form of electronic communication which one party wishes to make use of against the other party. This may refer to an illicit text message, an email or a photo taken at a workplace social event.
Do not post anything online or on a social network when you have consumed alcohol.
Do discuss your problem with a lawyer.
