Jeffrey’s car accident claim settled for £30,000

Car accident case study

Jeffrey was involved in a serious head on collision whilst driving on a rural road in Co. Down. Unfortunately, the driver of the other vehicle passed away as a result of the collision.

Jeffrey was brought to hospital by ambulance. He was fortunate not to sustain any serious structural injuries but was left with multiple soft tissue injuries that impacted his ability to work.

Due to the trauma of the incident and a lengthy coroner’s investigation, the client also suffered a severe psychiatric reaction.

Road traffic accident claim initiated

Jeffrey contacted our firm with a view to initiate a claim for compensation. He had a free initial consultation with Harry McAleese who he went on to instruct with his case.

Harry obtained a number of reports from independent experts to support the claim.

These included medical reports from a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant ENT Surgeon and a Consultant Radiologist. A care report from an Occupational Therapist and Care Consultant was also obtained.

Lastly, Harry obtained a police report following the conclusion of the Coroner’s Investigation.

The case was listed for Court

Harry had the case listed for Court.

As the other driver sadly passed away, the insurance company required the Coroner’s investigation to conclude before liability could be admitted.

Just weeks before the hearing date, the insurer indicated a willingness to settle the matter. We settled Jeffrey’s case in the sum of £30,000.
