Rebekah was stuck in traffic in a busy County Armagh town when another driver failed to slow in time to brake safely, colliding with the rear of her stationary vehicle and shunting her into the car in front.
Rebekah’s car was written off.
Rebekah suffered several injuries
As a result of the collision, Rebekah sustained soft tissue injuries to her neck, shoulders and back, which affected her ability to manage everyday tasks. These injuries are commonly referred to as whiplash.
When whiplash occurs following an accident, a Whiplash Claim may be possible.
She also experienced psychological difficulties following the accident and struggled with anxiety when travelling in a vehicle for some time afterwards.
Initial consultation with McCartan Turkington Breen Solicitors
Rebekah contacted our personal injury claims department with a view to claim. She had the benefit of a free initial consultation with Harry McAleese who she went on to instruct with her claim.
As the vehicle was written off following the collision, we obtained a prompt interim payment for the pre-accident value of her vehicle from the insurance company.
We obtained medical reports from a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and a Consultant Psychiatrist and arranged for an MRI scan of Rebekah’s spine.
Proceedings were issued
Proceedings were issued in the High Court and Counsel was instructed. The case was settled before it was listed for hearing, with the settlement covering compensation for Rebekah’s personal injuries, loss of earnings, physiotherapy treatment and the recovery of credit hire and storage charges.
The settlement figure was £50,000 + legal costs.
