Susanne was a passenger in a van driven by a friend when he collided with another large vehicle in Belfast. The accident was very serious and Susanne suffered several severe injuries. She was rushed to A&E and spent five days in intensive care. She spent a further two weeks as an inpatient and was treated for many broken ribs, several other fractures, deep cuts on both knees and psychological injuries.
Soon into her recovery, Susanne started to research personal injury claims. She came across McCartan Turkington Breen and arranged a free initial consultation with Michael Allison. She was also assessed a disability care expert who provided a report on Susanne’s future requirements.
Michael issued High Court proceedings. As the hearing drew near, the insurer conceded liability and invited us to settlement negotiations. After some back and forth, the matter settled in the sum of £137,500. Susanne viewed this as very favourable, as it removed the necessity of having to give formal evidence at a hearing.
