Covid-19 and your Employment Rights
Our Partner, John McShane, today presented to NIPSA members on the protections afforded to employees under Article 68 of Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (“ERO”). A copy of the lecture notes used by John can be accessed here.
Article 68 of the ERO states that an employee should not be subjected to any detriment if they refuse to return to work in “circumstances of danger” which they believe to be “serious and imminent”. The interpretation of this clause is particularly important in the current climate.
McCartan Turkington Breen have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with NIPSA and were delighted to contribute to their all day online seminar entitled “Covid-19 – Protecting Members During the Pandemic”. If you require any employment advice please contact our employment department on 02890329801.
