We joined Trade NI on a visit to Westminster

Advocating for Northern Ireland

Senior partner of this firm, Colin Mitchell, was delighted to be the guest of Trade NI at the Northern Ireland conference at The House of Commons in London.

Trade NI hosted the Westminster event that aimed to advocate for Northern Ireland businesses to 200 guests including representatives from 50 foreign embassies. The goal of the event was to position Northern Ireland as an exceptional location to live and invest in. It was hosted by Conor Burns, Northern Ireland Minister for State. It featured government ministers and senior shadow Cabinet members.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer addressed the reception. He praised Northern Ireland’s reputation for innovation and recognised its attractiveness for investment, business and tourism.

Later, Trade NI and guests were hosted by the Bank of England for a high-level briefing on inflation and the economy generally.

In a joint statement, Colin Neill from Hospitality Ulster, Glyn Roberts from Retail NI and Stephen Kelly from Manufacturing NI said: “The event this year will further develop these crucial links and remind politicians and the wider business community of Northern Ireland’s capability as a central cog in the wider economic output of the UK.”
