Over 200 Cases Against Neurologist Dr Watt

It has been reported that a total of 231 litigation cases have been brought relating to treatment provided by the suspended neurologist Dr Michael Watt.

In 2018, thousands of patients were recalled in an investigation into Dr Watt’s treatment. Findings from the second phase of the Independent Neurology Inquiry were due to be announced in June, however the release of this information has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A report published by the Department of Health in 2019 found that more than 20% of the patients recalled were misdiagnosed. Dr Watt remains suspended by the General Medical Council (GMC). A BBC Spotlight Programme, aired in November 2019, obtained evidence that Dr Watt was performing epidural blood patches at a rate that exceeded any other NHS Trust in the UK.

Solicitors at McCartan Turkington Breen are currently acting for a number of Dr Watt’s former patients in relation to invasive treatment and misdiagnosis. If you are a former patient and require any advice please contact Harry McAleese on 02890329801 or harry.mcaleese@mtb-law.co.uk for a free initial consultation.
