Trainee Solicitors 2023

Mollie Sharratt, Áine McAllister & Jodie Dawkins

The McCartan Turkington Breen apprenticeship programme provides the future generation of solicitors an opportunity to take their first steps into legal practice. Apprentices develop their skills over a two-year period, working alongside a partner of the firm and studying in the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS).

Harry McAleese, a partner in the firm, said: “Our apprenticeship programme is more than just a stepping stone; it’s a launchpad for aspiring solicitors. McCartan Turkington Breen continues to invest in the development of staff at all levels, and we look forward to helping Áine, Jodie and Mollie as they begin their legal careers”.

The two-year programme concludes with the trainee completing the Institute of Professional Legal Studies exams and becoming a qualified solicitor. Many of our partners and solicitors completed their apprenticeship with the firm.

One of the trainees, Áine McAllister stated “I am delighted to start my apprenticeship with McCartan Turkington Breen. It is a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience from some of Northern Ireland’s leading solicitors across a range of specialisms as I embark on my dream career.”

The McCartan Turkington Breen apprenticeship scheme is always heavily subscribed, thanks in part to our diverse range of legal services. Our trainees have the unique advantage of working closely with experts across various departments. This exposure allows them to better understand the intricacies of each practice area, aiding them in choosing their future specialisation.

As an organisation, we eagerly anticipate seeing our apprentice solicitors mature into proficient young solicitors, enriching both our work culture and the calibre of our services.
